Our power restored after almost 2 months. Some of our homes are still without. Our roofs are still open to the sky. Tin roofs gone & they stay gone. The concrete roofs continue to leak. We’re catching the rain water, pot after pot. The power company told us to fix it ourselves, it’s a homeowner’s responsibility. Notify them when problem is fixed & they’ll come turn on the power. The government told us our damages are not enough to qualify for claims. But we can have a sack of rice and some canned goods. We ate the rice & the canned meat & continue to sleep in the house with a leaking roof. We raised funds for immediate needs. We got the support and more. Our families elsewhere continue providing us local foods and crops whenever possible. We appreciate y’all! 😭 We’ve replanted, restarted, still our roofs leak.
